As of 2008 the number of registered motor vehicles in our country is 5.9 million, roughly 7 vehicles for every 100 Filipinos, according to data released by the National Statistical Coordination Board. In a country with this much vehicles, Country Bankers Insurance Corporation (CBIC) believes that road safety is a major concern for every bustling city.
Last September 11, 2013, CBIC was invited to participate in an event titled “Lakbay Gabay,” a 3-day affair that aimed to address the root causes of accidents and prevent the loss of lives. The event was held in Quezon City Hall and participated in by around 500 individuals from different organizations, from tricycle operators to various drivers themselves.
The head organizer of the event, Inner Media Advertising Services, believes that there is a social responsibility to be shared by both the public and private sectors of the country with respect to road safety. Already on its 2nd leg, Inner Media targets more cities to further help in educating drivers in the dos and don’ts of driving.
CBIC took this opportunity to promote products beneficial not only to the driver but also to the other participants, such as Personal Accident Insurance, Motor Car Insurance and its microinsurance products called Bahay, Buhay at Kabuhayan (BBK). These are all reasonably priced insurance products, protecting not only individual lives, but also their properties and their businesses. With the culmination of the 2nd leg of “Lakbay Gabay,” CBIC looks forward to participating in other awareness campaigns, as it acknowledges its role in promoting social responsibility among individuals, companies and organizations.
